"The King in Yellow" is a collection of short stories written by Robert W. Chambers in 1895, that spawned the "cosmic horror" genre which later inspired H.P Lovecraft and others. There are very few mentions of the king's features in the stories, other than a "yellow tattered mantle" and (maybe) a mask, so this is largely my personal interpretation.
